If you suspect that your pet may have become exposed to a harmful substance, but is not showing signs of illness, stay calm!  Contact your local veterinarian or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center hotline at (888) 426-4435 first.  Not all exposure situations require an immediate trip to the clinic.

P.S...What is the reason behind not having GRAPES, I have a friend that feeds their dog grapes and I am like you can't do that but could not explain why they were bad for his dog.

  13. This is great info Maggie, thank you

    XXXOOO Daisy, kendra & Bella

  18. Awesome post, Maggie! Since you have Lab cousins, you probably know that they are like vacuum cleaners when any food is left around that is even remotely reachable by a dog. I've had to call the ASPCA poison line more than once, and they were incredibly helpful.

A good thing to have around the house is hydrogen peroxide for inducing vomiting. Yes, I've had to do this unpleasant thing!

  19. What a great post! We're bookmarking it in case we ever need it.

Thank you for putting it all together.

    Nubbin wiggles,

  20. Hi there friend, I've made a blog post wich title is "Don't Abandon Your Pets... Hachiko". And I would be really grateful if you just take a look at it... So if it's not asking to much, just take a quick look at it, thank you! :)

P.s: Love your blog design, it's so full of... life! :p

  21. Thanks so much for posting this list. I had no idea avocado, walnuts and grapes were bad! I think I may have eaten a few in my day, but I sure won't do it again. I will also be sure to post the foods that we can eat for my mom.

    Your pal, Pip
